From: Mary Kay Rybiski Remote Name: 66.90.136.126 Date: 23 Oct 2003 Time: 09:59:43 -0400 CommentsI am a registered nurse and have been a patient of Dr. Leonard's for more than 14 years. He has treated me for migraine and cluster headaches that were so severe and so frequent, it was difficult for me to work or care for my family. I remember telling my husband on the way home after my initial visit, "Finally, I have hope that I am going to get better. Finally someone is taking me seriously." The medical care I have received from Dr. Leonard has given me my life back. My headaches are under control and no longer interfere with my personal or professional life. I chose to stay under Dr. Leonard's care over the years even when my insurance plan changed and I paid out of pocket. I have found him to always behave in a professional manner while examining me and have never doubted for a moment his intent during our office visits. As a nurse for more than 20 years, I have seen more than enough dangerous, unethical physicians stay in practice and prosper with no action from the medical board, yet on unproven allegations you have rushed to ruin this fine man's personal and professional life, and have denied his patients' effective, compassionate care. Just who are you trying to protect? As a patient of Dr. Leonard's, I don't feel protected. I feel angry and frustrated that I have been denied ongoing medical care by the impulsive actions of a medical board that is more interested in protecting its reputation in the glare of media attention that this case has received. I have not sought care from another neurologist. I am trying to hang on and wait for the board to come to their senses and restore Dr. Leonard to his practice, and give his patient's back their hope. Sincerely, Mary Kay Rybiski, RNC |
