Dear Peer Review Committee:

Dr. Philip Leonard is a rarity in today’s day of the HMO.  He is both professional and personable.  For the past 3 years he has been treating me for adult ADD.  During each visit I was made to feel like a patient not one of the herd at a cattle call.  Dr. Leonard takes the time to get to know you and he listens to what you are saying.

I have received excellent care and attention from Dr. Leonard.  Recently I lost my job and was out of work for over a year.  During that time Dr. Leonard increased the frequency of my visits.  I did not realize it at the time why he did this. In hind site I realize he did this because I was showing signs of depression and he wanted to keep a closer eye on how I was doing.

When I first learned of the allegations against Dr. Leonard I was distressed.  What has been alleged in the media is not fair treatment of a good doctor.  The allegations fall into the same category as “have you stopped beating your wife”.

Philip Leonard is not only a doctor but also a small businessman.  I have been a successful small business owner.  As a business owner you work hard to perfect your craft and also work hard to develop and protect your business.  Your reputation is a critical part of your success or failure.  You maintain high standards of conduct for both personal and professional reasons.  It is tragic that a business can be put at risk from unfounded allegations.

I strongly urge those in review of this situation to let Dr. Leonard get back to practicing medicine at the high standards he has always demonstrated.

I will gladly appear in person to help Dr Leonard.  My comments and letter can be used or included in mailings or postings.

Thank you for your time and thank you in advance for doing the right thing and letting Dr. Leonard get back to practicing medicine as soon as possible.

Sincerely,

Tom Dickson
